Each year FCIS sets aside four weeks in the summer to collect flip flops for a local non-profit group, Hope 2 Others. This faith-based organization works with the community in Tanzania, Africa, to help provide essential needs to this struggling area. In this specific region of Tanzania, they have red sand that contains microorganisms that contain harmful bacteria that creep into the feet. FCIS continues to provide flip flops to this area of Tanzania to literally help save lives by a simple pair of flip flop. After completing our fifth annual collection drive, FCIS has sent nearly 3,000 flip flops to Africa.
As part of our desire to help the community, FCIS also donates $2 per pair of flip flops collected to another local, non-profit group, Shelter From the Storm Ministries. This organization in Sun Prairie recognizes the challenges of homelessness, understands the benefits of mentoring and teaching, and teaches that life skills can be learned and second chances are possible.
